SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT SHABTI DATABASES
We’re proud to launch SHABTI DATABASES, a new FREE service for our website users all over the world.

Our SHABTI DATABASES are compiled using as many illustrations of parallel examples as possible as opposed to listing the examples. This gives the reader the opportunity to compare the side–by–side to see variants in the colour of glazes, textual variations and other attributes. In many of the databases I have noted different types of within a group for an individual owner.

An initial shabti known to me is described in as much detail as possible giving details of its provenance and citing many objects belonging to the individual concerned. A transliteration and translation are given of the inscription and this is followed by a database giving details and photos, where possible, of parallel examples to be found in museum collections, private collections and those offered for sale at auctions and by dealers. A comprehensive bibliography is given at the end.

I have made every effort to seek permission for using photos from museum collections wherever possible. I'm deeply grateful to the Curators and Registrars who have responded to my requests. For those who haven't responded, or for photos I've used without explicit permission, I sincerely apologize if their inclusion is not permitted. Of course, I will promptly remove them from the databases if required. However, I hope this won't be necessary, as these images contribute significantly to the purpose of my work. The databases take months to compile, and the project will span several years. Therefore, I greatly appreciate any support and understanding in this matter. The goal is to create a valuable resource, and I'm committed to doing so responsibly and collaboratively. It is impossible to avoid making errors, especially in citing examples to be found in auction catalogues but I have done my best to make these as few as possible.

As always, I am indebted to my friends and scholars who inspire and help me. Most notable among the many are Dik van Bommel (Holland), Kirill Gribov (Russia), Dr. Ken Griffin (Wales), Niek de Haan (Holland) and Jean–Michel Sablon (France).

Grateful thanks must also go to my website designer, Roger Dowling (England).
