SHABTIS - A Private View
This superb full colour publication is a unique illustrated catalogue of shabtis
in European private collections. It contains examples of funerary statuettes
produced for many illustrious persons, including a number of royal examples.
Each has been fully researched and includes listings of similar examples in
museums and collections around the world. The book also includes Hans D.
Schneider ’s ‘Typology and Classification of Shabtis’, reproduced with his kind permission.
The book includes a CD-ROM enabling the photographic illustrations in the
catalogue to be displayed and viewed at high resolution and enlarged for closer
inspection. Selected statuettes can be rotated in three dimensions.

“This book looks specifically at shabtis, and is what can only be described as a
sumptuous and remarkable volume which has perhaps set a standard of publication
which others might find difficult to follow.”
Bob Partridge, Ancient Egypt Magazine
“There is no question that this book is a major addition to the literature on
ushabtis, and certainly the most beautiful book on Egyptian ushabtis as well. The illustrations of the figurines, all in colour, are from the
absolutely superb photography of Tom Bangbala, and the best to be seen in
colour. The book is a MUST for anyone interested in or collecting ushabtis.”
Peter Clayton, Minerva Magazine
“A staggering amount of research . . . a marvelous book . . . truly a work of art
. . . certainly a high water mark of Egyptology.”
Jonathan Meader, California
“. . . votre magnifique livre sur les ouchebtis. Je suis en plein d’admiration. En attendant vous avez réalisé le plus beaucoup livre qui existe sur les ouchebtis.”
Jacques Aubert, Paris
“. . . a wonderful book . . . a very fine piece of work . . . a deluxe
publication and a very useful contribution to shabti studies. All the
photographs are exceptionally fine.”
Professor Hans Schneider, Leiden, Netherlands
